The first mistake was probably not looking at what was currently selling aside from playing Peggle and sayings “hey, let’s make a ball bouncer!”

So the choice was made for some sort of ball bouncer, eventually landing on a pinball/golf combination where players took careful shots in a platformer view while scoring was mostly related to golf.

After having many problems with TGB’s collision and physics we eventually decided to do something more proven and we settled on a breakout variant with a twist which was a match three element with falling gems.

I was the programmer involved in the early prototypes, working on deterministic peggle-physics. TGB wasn’t the best platform for this prototyping, and in hindsight I should have used something else to build a working physics demo. This used up time which could have gone into actual production. Using TGB did allow the full brick-breaker game to be developed more easily however, and that is the trade-off.

Fashion Match is now free to download from ClockworkRhino.com (direct link here). The game was originally launched at $20 with a 1 hour demo, as was the standard at the time. Since then casual game prices have tumbled to the point where I’d rather everyone enjoy it freely than continue to market and support it as a paid product.

Footnote – Fashion Match was pirated as soon as it hit the portals, and its been flat at 0 sales/month for a while now. This decision removes the administrative overhead of supporting an old product.
